Lead Service Line Inventory & Information

As required under the federal Lead and Copper Rule, Maple Shade Water Dept along with the Township is posting the list below of all water users and their service line material (if known). Please click on Service Line Inventory in green at the bottom of this page. This will download the excel file to your computer (file will populate on the bottom left side of your screen). Click on the file to open it (this might take a few seconds) and once it opens, click “Ctrl” & “F” simultaneously to open up a search box. Type your address into the search box and click “Enter”, which will bring you to your address and from there you can see your service line material. The addresses are also sorted by the first digit of the property number (1-9).

The information gathered in this list was obtained during our town-wide meter replacement. The list is called the Lead Service Line Inventory and the main purpose of this list is to identify any lead service lines in Maple Shade. Creating this list is the first step in a 10 year plan to remove all potential sources of lead in the Maple Shade Water System.

Note: Maple Shade Water Dept conducts annual and triennial (every 3 years) lead sampling. From our testing, the drinking water has never exceeded the federal Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), which is the highest level of contaminant that is allowed in drinking water for Lead. Lead is not an active problem in the Maple Shade water system; however, it is important to remove all potential sources of lead.

New legislature (as of July 2021) now considers galvanized service lines to be under the category of a lead service line. (EPA Lead Webpage/ EPA New Revisions/ NJDEP Lead Webpage) This means that any known galvanized service lines will need to be replaced. At this time, Maple Shade Water Dept is not aware of any lead service lines still in the system; however, there are a number of galvanized service lines. Our 10 year plan for replacement is due to the DEP July 2022. More information regarding this plan and replacements will be coming throughout the year.

Letters will be sent out within a month to all the users classified with galvanized service lines to further detail the process and what to expect.

There are quite a few water users we do not know the material of their service line, so we are unsure whether these lines need replacement or not. The local ordinance states the entire service line in Maple Shade is the responsibility of the property owner, so the Utilities and the Township do not have detailed records of every users individual service line material.  If your address is one shown as unknown for the service line material, please contact Maple Shade Utilities at 856-488-7450 to schedule an appointment for us to identify the material of your service line.

If there are any questions regarding this list or you cannot open/view the list for any reason, please contact Maple Shade Utilities at 856-488-7450 or send us an email at mscommommail@woodardcurran.com.
