This weekend a major water main break occurred on North Pine Ave north of the railroad tracks. Due to the size of the main (12”), extent of the break, and conditions of the pipe; the break took more time to repair and more residents were affected than normally would be during a water main break. Many residents in Maple Shade Township experienced low water pressure from late Saturday morning until late Saturday night. All water main breaks are considered emergency situations and are addressed immediately when we are made aware of them. Most breaks take only an hour or so to stop the leak and another few to completely repair the break, but occasionally there are breaks to mains where repairs are more complicated and these can take more time to get under control. This is the sort of break that was experienced on Saturday and the Maple Shade Water Department did everything in its power to keep water going to its’ customers. The Water Department was on site for the entirety of the work starting at 11am Saturday morning when the break was discovered until the repairs were completely done Sunday afternoon at 2pm. We do understand the inconvenience this caused many residents on Saturday and would like to thank everyone for their patience as we corrected this unforeseen event.
